My comments were not a defense of "public education" but of the teachers. Do you not understand that teachers are working tirelessly to educate students despite the system. Get real. Go talk to some actual teachers before your false stereotypes become firmly embeded.

I do not know a teacher out there who actually thinks NCLB has improved the quality of education for our students. If NCLB has not set us backwards, it has definately left us with our tires spinning.

I do think that Bush was a good president. My criticisms of Bush are on his deviations from Conservative principles. I just do not agree with everything that he does. Now, on your assertion that I am no conservative, you need to do some research. Do you not realize that NCLB is a liberal piece of legislation. It spits in the face of the Constitution, which designates the responsiblity of education to be with the states. According to the Constitution of the United States, the national government has no business in education. NCLB usurps the Constitution and establishes the federal government's control over public education.

By the way, the antifederalists warned us that the general welfare clause could allow the federal government to usurp the intentions and spirit of the Constitution itself. Do you see things the same way Obama does when he said, the genius of the founders was that they created a Constituion that can change with the times?

You may want to further your research on teachers unions as well. It is true that most all teachers unions are liberal in their ideology. However, teachers are not required to join teachers unions. Your assumption that all public school teachers are associated with some type of teachers union shows your lack of experience in this area.

Thank you for your post beacause you did more to prove my point than I ever could have done myself. I can promise that the first day teaching a class is a truely humbling experience. It is funny that we get great support in the community from parents who have or currently substitute teach. The reaction is always the same, "I had no idea what you guys deal with on a daily basis."

You must have missed where I said that we don't need more money. Maybe your emotions got started before you finished reading the article.

I can only conclude that you are a conspiracy theorists or that you have a negative experience with public school. If it is the former, Michael Medved has a good conspiracy day broadcast for people like you.
